A gynecologist for many years, I often get calls from my friends, my sisters and their friends about “girlie health concerns” that they don’t really want to share with their own doctors. I call these girlie concerns, “gyne gripes”. Common complaints that many women have which often don’t compel them to actually go to the doctor for what may very well be a “ that’s normal” response. So I’ve decided to share some of those gripes with you and my responses too. That way, you’ll know that you’re not alone in your girlie health concerns and you’ll also know when it’s important to share those gripes with your doctor.Future Gripes:“My Breasts are Different Sizes!”“What Do You Mean Don’t Douche?”“What to Do if You Miss Your Pill” ...and lots more

Have you ever been told that you have a “tipped uterus” and wondered what in the world that really means? If so, don’t worry, having a “tipped uterus” simply means that your uterus sits in such a way that it tilts toward your back rather than toward your belly. Whil most women have an anteverted uterus, or one that naturally tilts forward in their body, many women, 1 out of 5 in fact, have a retroverted uterus, or one that naturally tilts toward their back. What’s the big deal? Well, not muc

It’s true. You hear it from your Mom, Grandma and aging friends but you think it will never happen to you. You’ve always been pretty active and relatively fit. And then, it happens--you celebrate the big 40 and BAM, the pounds start to appear as silently as the crows feet. What’s a girl to do? After you visit the freezer for a frozen delight that will provide you with temporary fulfillment and endless guilt, take a good hard look in the mirror at your 40 year old body and start to admire it

Many women find that they just can’t remember to take their birth control pill every day. If you want to stay on the pill and are looking for an easy way to remember to take it daily, consider this--Link the task of taking your pill to something that you do every single day without fail, like brushing your teeth in the morning. I’m certain that you wouldn’t leave the house without brushing your teeth, so put your pill with your tooth brush and you’re guaranteed to take it each day. If you’re l
