<itunes:summary>This week has been a big developmental week for young Jacob. Within the last week, Jake has started waving, drinking from sippy cups by himself, pushing buttons, climbing stairs, sledding, and making the kiss noise with his lips. The video above is an example of his recent stair climbing passion. In fact whenever the gate isn’t blocking the stairs, Jake is crawling as fast as he can toward those stairs. The waving has been a lot of fun. He’s still a little unsure about waving to strangers, even our doctor didn’t get a wave today, but family and friends quickly get the arm wagging back and forth along with the “hi” sound and silly grin. Last night Jake was so happy about waving that he started waving to me even when his back was turned, thus mastering the “behind the back wave.”Sippy cups have been a big hit with Jake since he learned how to suck on them, but it wasn’t until this week that he really started carrying around his favorite cups and slurping from them non stop. He is totally indiscriminate when drinking, often drinking from the cup upside-down forcing his head to tip backwards almost to the point of toppling over.Buttons have been a great revelation. It really started last Sunday when a few teenagers from church visited to hang out with Jake. Marina taught Jake over and over again how to push the button on his gear-toy, and as soon as they left, Jake went right over to the toy and pressed the button, causing the lights and sounds to begin. That skill quickly transfered to all other toys, including toys with knobs that look like buttons. Currently, his favorite toy is the ball popper. Oh how he loves to push the button and watch the balls jump around. It’s kind of like a ball fountain, and Jake has even learned to take the balls out, and more importantly, put the balls back in!Sledding! It’s been warm the last few days (like hovering around 30 degrees), so despite his cold, we decided to introduce a fun new activity. Jake’s first sledding adventure was down the snow/ice covered street to the mail box. Mommy pulled him on the way down and then Daddy pulled both Jake and Mommy on the way back. Then today, Jake and Daddy went sledding in the backyard. We saw our neighbors, Daron and Logan, enjoying the weather and just couldn’t resist. And finally, the kissing noise. Becky taught Jake how to really kiss by smacking his lips. Currently, Jake will make the noise, hoping to draw his parents into a lip smacking chorus of back and forth kissing. We try to catch this on tape, but it still takes quite a bit of concentration for Jake to smack his lips, so it’s difficult to catch.I’ll throw in one more trick... getting stuck under things. It started last week when I brought home some hand-me-down tent-boxes. They are awesome (thank you Freemans!). and Jake loves to play chase around them and crawl through them. Unfortunately he’s also been crawling under chairs and tables a lot more lately, and getting stuck. He’s never really had this problem before, but he better learn fast!</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Jacob has a new ‘look of concentration’. What was previously reserved for bowel movements has transferred to physical movements, especially those bipedal walking steps that have thus far eluded him. Able to stand on his own, walk around the coffee table, and turn a half-circle only to fall gracefully bottom-first, Jake has now discovered his set of wheels that have him mowing our living room like it’s our backyard. And his ‘look of concentration’ has a new addition... the tongue, as shown in this video of him and his mower. He’s going the distance alright. The distance from one end of the living room to the other, and back again. (If only that little mower was capable of turning on it’s own!) Not only is he a menace to our living room, he is now cruising for a Rocket-dog. Look out pup!</itunes:summary>
