Welcome, Kaipo!

Some of you might know that for some time now, David has wanted a puppy. It was very hard for us to leave our dog Finnegan when we moved, but our house down here isn’t set up for a larger dog who needs lots of running room. After months of research, pleas and promises, we went to our local puppy place and found a sweet little ball of fur. He came home on Sunday afternoon. He is a Maltese Pom, 10 weeks old and weighs about 3 pounds. We had a hard time choosing a name, and we appreciate everyone’s ideas and input! His name is Kaipo Makani. In Hawaiian, ‘Kaipo’ means sweetheart and ‘Makani’ means the wind. He really IS a little sweetheart! The cats are adjusting. Della is completely fine with him already. Dixie and Calypso still watch him rather warily, but they’re coming around. I’ve put some more pictures on the Kaipo Photo Page.

The Fourth at the Fort

We spent the Fourth of July weekend at Ft Wilderness in one of their cozy cabins. It was a wonderful weekend of quiet family time. On Friday morning, we enjoyed the waves at Blizzard Beach. Friday night we ate at the Trail’s End restaurant--YUM!!--and then joined the Campfire Singalong before we went to the beach for fireworks. Saturday--the glorious Fourth!--we headed for the Magic Kingdom. (Haley wasn’t feeling well, and Catie stayed at the cabin with her.) We rode Big Thunder Mountain before we saw the newly redone Hall of Presidents (it was terrific!). On Saturday afternoon, Clint grilled dogs and burgers for us, and then everyone roasted marshmallows and made s’mores. MORE yum! On Sunday morning, Clint and the two younger children went home (they had a special errand to run) and Dev, Haley and I spent the day together at Hollywood Studios and Epcot. This Little Piggy

One of the highlights of Sean’s visit with us was provided by some good Florida friends. Miss Kirstin and Miss Sonya, hearing of Sean’s absolute LOVE of pigs, offered to introduce the three little piggies who live at Miss Kirstin’s farm. So we went over to visit one day and met not only the three pigs--Cookie, Bubba and Slash--but also a horse, some cows, a rooster and some adorable dogs, too!

The Best Pizza in the World!

After we left Cape May, we stopped in Ocean City on the way back to Mt. Royal to have some of the best pizza in the world--Mack and Manco’s!! YUM!! It was so cold, we didn’t walk very far on the boardwalk. . .and David had hot chocolate along with his birch beer. But it was totally worth it!

Sean’s Vacation

We brought a stowaway home from New Jersey! Sean came home with us for a little Florida vacation. He’s been enjoying time in the pool, hanging out with his cousins and just basically chilling. You’ll see more pictures in my next update!
