Yesterday, over at The Bride’s Cafe, Janie featured Kathleen’s shoot. Thanks Janie! As soon as the shoot was posted, I got an email form Janie asking if I would please, please, please let her feature the images. That’s always nice. :) And, my favorite comment left described the shoot as “laid back drama”.....I like that. I think its probably in keeping with the trend I’m discovering, primarily through writing this blog, that I tend to like the com

You can find them under the featured section of my photography site. Kathleen is a little sister who’s grown up into a good friend. She was married to Stephen last December but about two months ago we did a special little shoot. I wanted to take some fun pictures and she was excited to get to wear her dress again. One of the things that makes Kathleen a good friend is that we both have these two extreme sides to us.

Yesterday I taught an art lesson to 6 boys on curvy lines. Their mothers asked me to make it fun and memorable so we drew them on their faces! (And put feathers in their hair, of course.) But I really enjoyed learning a little about the Maori people of New Zealand (I love Wikipedia) who inspired our little art project. Talk about rustic elegance. This beautiful image of a Maori chief was created by Sydney Parkinson. I just thought this image was such a nice transition from the tomatoes! It feels so organic and edgy and autumnal....thank you Dwell Studios. This is a nice welcome to harvest time. Especially if I could take a little nap right there and read one of the books on the night stand!

I’m not quite ready to say goodbye but the idea of snugly sweaters and crisp air does sound nice.So here is a final tribute to summer. This is a recent image from the lovely blog Nectar and Light. Jenifer is a wonderful Polaroid photographer. I absolutely love the quality of her images...they are so beautiful, nostalgic, and always convey the the feeling of a fleeting moment. And don’t miss her little daughter’s blog Adie loves Polly.
