<title>Self Reliance</title>
<link>http://web.me.com/tzaddi/iWeb/Cordero/Prayers/Prayers.html</link>
<description>“In what prayers do men allow themselves! That which they call a holy office is not so much as brave and manly. Prayer looks abroad and asks for some foreign addition to come through some foreign virtue, and loses itself in endless mazes of natural and supernatural, and mediatorial and miraculous. Prayer that craves a particular commodity, any thing less than all good, is vicious. Prayer is the contemplation of the facts of life from the highest point of view. It is the soliloquy of a beholding and jubilant soul. It is the spirit of God pronouncing his works good. But prayer as a means to effect a private end is meanness and theft. It supposes dualism and not unity in nature and consciousness. As soon as the man is at one with God, he will not beg. He will then see prayer in all action.”&#13; — Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882), Self Reliance</description>

I need Your&#13;strength and wisdom. Let me walk in beauty&#13;and make my eyes ever behold the red and&#13; purple sunset. Make my hands respect the&#13;things You have made, my ears sharp to hear&#13;Your voice. Make me wise, so that I may&#13;know the things You have taught my people -&#13;the lesson You have hidden in every leaf and&#13;rock. I seek strength not to be superior to&#13;my brothers, but to be able to fight my greatest&#13;enemy - myself. Make me ever ready to&#13;come to You with clean hands and straight&#13;eyes, so when life fades as a fading sunset my&#13;spirit may come to You without shame.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>It must have been around February, 2003 that I went on a search for a healing prayer that might serve me. I came upon this one by the Bahá'í Faith and it felt appropriate. I copied it, printed it, placed it about my house and work place and incorporated it into my daily life. There have been times that I have read it many times a day. It nourishes.&#13;&#13;Each time I say it, either aloud or silently I hear it’s voice speak to my body, mind and Spirit. It offers me comfort and hope in the way it takes me on the journey of discovery as I ponder the riddle of the unspoken words.&#13;&#13;I have shared it with many as the photo behind it has evolved to it’s present form, the sunrise over the southern end of the Cascades.&#13;&#13;I share it with you now with all sincerity.&#13;&#13;“Thy name is my healing, O my God, and remembrance of Thee is my remedy. &#13;Nearness to Thee is my hope, and love for Thee is my companion. &#13;Thy mercy to me is my healing and my succor in both this world and the world to come. &#13;Thou, verily, art the All-Bountiful, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. “&#13;&#13;Richard</itunes:summary>
